Handmade Clergy Stoles by “Piecemaker Rev”

Post Author: Beth Boisvert

Editor's Note: Be sure to visit Beth's Etsy shop to view even more stoles, and read her beautiful meditations on the meaning and symbolism of each. If you are like me you will be coveting the unique and playful "Relaxed Fit" stole for ordinary time!

These stoles are pieces of art. Like most art, these pieces have absorbed many emotions through their creation: hopes and frustrations, dreams and disappointments. These artistic endeavors retain impressions of me in each stitch. But these are not simply pieces of art, not merely pieces of cloth put together in a creative way. They are stoles, and a prayer shawl: holy garments. These stoles will be worn in ministry to God’s people. They will acquire more imprints of the wearer, of the people she encounters, and of the situations in which they are worn. Before this, however, I make another contribution to the memories woven into the fabric of these garments by blessing them.

Beth Boisvert graduated from Union Theological Seminary in 2008. This month, she begins her first call as Associate Pastor of a United Church of Christ congregation in Massachusetts.

You really make it seem really easy with your presentation however I find this matter to be really something which I feel I might
by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and very broad for me.
I’m looking ahead on your subsequent submit, I will try to get the cling of it!

Beth your stoles are beautiful! I have made three stoles for some young men who worked with me in youth ministry and then later went to seminary and were ordained. One stole , my first was made by a nudge frome God to make something wonderful for this man. The second two were comissioned by my daugter-in -laws brother who was just ordained. he has an artistic soul and I tried to bring his ideas to life. I appreciate this aret form so much! you have inspired me! Blessings!

The Stoles that are displayed here are beautiful. I would love to be part of a community of young women that are serving the Lord. I think I missed the cut off though seeing as I just turned 42! LOL.
    Thank you for your site!
