Introducing the Board

Post Author: Emily Zeig Lindsey

The Young Clergy Women Project is organized by two boards — the Community Board and the Editorial Board. Together they form the Full Board, which offers vision and direction for the project. Once a year the Full Board gathers in person.

This year, the Full Board gathered in Nashville immediately following our sixth conference. In a short 48 hours, the board worked very hard. We remembered the project’s beginnings as an idea in 2006 and reflected on how the project has grown since then. Seven years later, almost 1,000 young clergy women have joined the project. We’ve expanded from hosting an online discussion forum to publishing an e-zine and hosting our own conferences.

Excited about what we’ve accomplished so far, the board brainstormed new ways of connecting and new columns for Fidelia’s Sisters. (Some great ideas are coming together — watch for announcements on Fidelia’s Sisters and in the member newsletter!) We dreamed big dreams for the future of the project. We elected officers and heard reports from committees. We laughed and cried and worshipped together.

When we parted ways on Saturday, we were enthusiastic about the work ahead of us. That work will include monthly Community Board and Editorial Board meetings online. The Full Board will also meet online three times throughout the year. Each board member also serves on one of four committees: Conference, Membership, Money, or Public Relations. It is not a small time commitment to serve on the board. However, the time that is volunteered to lead and guide this project is well worth it.

Thank you to those who are continuing in their service to the board: April Berends, Corein Brown, Molly Field James, Jamie Haskins, Diana Hodges-Batzka, Julie Jensen, Mihee Kim-Kort, Amy Loving, Sarah Moore, Mariclair Partee Carlsen, Erica Schemper, and Emily Zeig Lindsey.

Welcome to our new board members: Kelly Boubel Shriver, Lesley Browning Ratcliff, Kelsey Grissom Johnson, Jessica Harren, Brenda Lovick, Katie Pearce, and Phyl Stutzman.
