We are very excited to formally announce that Young Clergy Women International has partnered with renowned Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation experts, Crossroads Anti-Racism Organization and Training, to provide YCWI-specific training! While many of us receive some form of anti-racism training within our denominations, YCWI has heard your request to learn how to address racism and be actively anti-racist in an ecumenical way.
The primary initiative for YCWI in 2020 is to lean into the call to be anti-racist by beginning the long-term process of becoming an actively anti-racist and pro-reconciling organization. The first step in that process is to provide exceptional webinars through Crossroads to help us understand both the historical and contemporary impacts of racism. Throughout Spring 2020, Crossroads will offer YCWI three webinars followed by a two-day experience with Crossroads at our annual conference in Minneapolis.
Given the repeated requests from YCWI members to provide access to this type of training, the board of YCWI acknowledged that seeking expertise from an outside source that specializes in developing organization-specific material would be ideal. With that said, we are contracting Crossroads by paying a fair and equitable amount based on the services they can provide us. Due to this, there is a fee associated with the webinars, but like conference registration, we have provided a scale to reflect a range of professional development budgets. We stand firm in our commitment to making sure finances are not a barrier for those who wish to attend, so you’ll see a full scholarship option which the leadership team can approve based on need. Please note that there are discounts for attending more than one session. If you pay for all three webinars, you will receive a discount code for 20% off conference registration.
The webinars are as follows:
Webinar 1 via ZOOM January 14, 2020 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm ET Focus: Heteropatriarchy and the Three Pillars of White Supremacy
Webinar 2 via ZOOM March 26, 2020 9:00 am to 10:30 am ET Focus: Individual Prejudice, Systemic Racism, and the Legacy of Race Evasive Politics
Webinar 3 via ZOOM May 21, 2020 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm ET Focus: “White Dominance Its Ubiquitous! Learning to Apprehend it is Critical for Effective Equity Work.”
