Apply for the YCWI Board!

Young Clergy Women International is a network of the youngest ordained clergy women, defined as those under forty. The YCWI Board is responsible for the governance and oversight of the organization and its membership, raising funds, managing resources effectively, and planning strategically for the organization’s future.

It is expected that every YCWI Board Member selected in this cycle will:

  • Serve a three-year term, beginning in January 2024.
  • Attend monthly Full Board Meetings. Monthly Full Board Meetings are virtual and are scheduled for 90 minutes. Meeting start times are determined jointly by board members each year.
  • Serve in one Work Group. Work Groups typically meet either monthly or seasonally. The Work Groups are Conference, Development, Community Life, and Editorial.
  • Make a yearly personal financial contribution to YCWI according to your ability.
  • Maintain a Gmail account for Board communications.
  • Attend an annual in-person board gathering.  In 2024, this will take place the day before the conference, on Monday, May 20th. Travel, lodging, and meals paid for by YCWi with disability accommodation and child-care assistance available.
  • Demonstrate dedication and commitment to YCWI’s mission and values and serve in accordance with our stated policies and handbook.
  • Understand that being a board member changes the manner in which you participate in the private Facebook Groups, since you represent the organization, as well as yourself, in this role.

All applicants must be YCWI members before applying, and they should ideally not be older than 37 at the beginning of their term (January 2024).

We are so glad you are considering applying to join the leadership of our organization! We believe that YCWI offers a significant gift to young women in ministry and that board service is both a way of giving back and enjoying a greater level of involvement with YCWI. This recruitment season we are looking to fill 5-9 three-year terms. In this season of continued growth and change, we are seeking board members who will take an active role in shaping the future of the organization.

Applications are due October 31, 2023, and you can expect to hear back from the YCWI Nominating Committee regarding next steps by November 15.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at leadership@youngclergywomen.org.
