Dear Bishop Budde,

As the Board and undersigned members of Young Clergy Women International – a professional organization of ecumenical clergy women under 40 across the world – we write to thank you for your bold, prophetic witness and share our support for you.

YCWI’s Vision states, in part: We witness the theotokos, God coming to earth in the body of a woman, and a resurrection first preached by women (John 20:18). From beginning to end the ministry of Jesus was surrounded and uplifted by those on the margins of the established male-dominated system; their legacy should not only be remembered, but celebrated.

You are the embodiment of that vision and someone who we, as young clergy women, are grateful for. You are creating a legacy of grace, compassion, and conviction for those of us following behind you. We echo your plea for mercy and stand in solidarity with all whose livelihood, personhood, identity, or life may be under threat.

With ever thankful hearts for your proclamation of the gospel,

Members of the YCWI Board
